I don’t know about you, but with all the news surrounding Covid, our political divide, and racism, I could really use some positivity. That’s why I’m hosting this podcast.
Life is short. Let’s enjoy it.
Hey there, I’m Alice Chen.
My immigrant parents wanted me to be a doctor, teacher or accountant, but I ended up studying history at Stanford.
My dad told me I was throwing my life away, but I knew I was more interested in people than memorizing carbon molecule structures.
After graduation, I worked in TV as a reporter/anchor and then at a startup. Later, I got my master’s in journalism at Northwestern and focused on print.
I love telling stories of inspiring people and my work has appeared in places like the San Francisco Chronicle, Chicago Public Radio and Apple.
In 2013, I launched BrightStory Admission Consulting, a boutique company that specializes in college application essay writing. I’m passionate about mentoring high school students and teaching them how to become outstanding communicators.
I’ve been married for 14 years, and am the mother of two young daughters. The SF area is my home, and I enjoy traveling (favorite places: New Zealand, Hawaii, Switzerland, Yunnan), hiking (redwoods) and eating (mochi pancakes, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, ribeye steak, all fruit).
